Senior Banking Executive - Retail, Corporate & International Banking

A. P. Kannan is a senior banking executive with nearly 40 years of distinguished experience across retail, corporate, and international banking. A C.A.I.I.B. and B.Com graduate, he retired voluntarily from a nationalised bank as Chief Manager after a career defined by strategic management, profit centre leadership, treasury and Forex oversight, and operational excellence.

Mr. Kannan has overseen full spectrum banking operations - deposits, advances, marketing, remittances, staff administration, internal audit and treasury - consistently delivering systems and procedural redesigns that improved controls, profitability and scalability. He led overseas branch operations in Seoul (2007-2010) where he managed host country compliance, branch performance and concurrent/internal audit functions, and later served as Chief Manager in Chennai and Karaikudi (2010-2018).

Adept in Forex management, Mr. Kannan has directed dealing room activities including position management, revaluation profit optimization, Nostro funding and reconciliation, and adherence to aggregate gap, overnight and daylight limits. He has designed and implemented bank wide policies, conducted faculty development sessions for Alagappa University teaching staff, and trained junior officers and clerical teams in banking operations and foreign exchange.
